Volcan Azul is located in the Alajuela region of Costa Rica and run by Alejo Castro. The fifth generation of his family to run the estate, Alejo is a one-of-a-kind famer, focusing on quality as well as the sustainability of his farms. Volcan Azul produces a vast variety of cultivars and varietals, such as Typica, SL28, Obata, Villa Sarchi and Geisha. This lot of Geisha, is a clean but with optimal amounts of funk. Being processed as a cold ferment, the overall amount of fermentation is lower than other lots, resulting in higher sweetness and tropical notes. It is s a coffee with a great combination of flavours distinctly from both the Geisha varietal and the anaerobic process.
